At the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program, residents can select an area of concentration (AOC) to further their expertise in a specific discipline within family medicine. The AOCs are chosen at the beginning of the PGY2 year with approval from the program director and the advisor. To participate in an AOC, residents must maintain good academic standing. Each AOC includes additional elective time, a longitudinal project, a scholarly work, and conference attendance.
